Being called a “Jeremiah” is not much of a complement these days; it suggests someone with a pessimistic outlook on life. But is that fair on the prophet Jeremiah? He lived through turbulent times and witnessed the fall of the city of Jerusalem to the Babylonians and the destruction of the Temple of Solomon. His book is a rich deposit of material from someone seeking to explain the meaning of the times in which he lived. Does he have anything to say to us in our own turbulent times?
