Your benefits and the law: Introduction to Welfare Benefits (Monday 6PM - 8PM)

This is an introductory course, suitable for volunteers and others working in the advice sector who want to increase their knowledge of the benefits system. The course will start with an overview, establishing the distinction between means-tested, contribution-based and “universal” benefits.

Further sessions will look at each benefit in more detail, and will include sessions on Universal Credit and the legacy means-tested benefits, on disability and sickness benefits, on support for housing costs, and on the position of EEA citizens and other migrants. Depending on the situation, we may include a section on COVID-related benefits.
