At the end of this 12 week module students will have reached a B2- proficiency level in the Common European Framework of Reference and will be able to understand extended speech and lectures and follow even complex lines of argument provided the topic is reasonably familiar; read articles and reports concerned with contemporary problems in which the writers adopt particular attitudes or viewpoints; interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible; present clear, detailed descriptions on a wide range of subjects related to their field of interest; write clear, detailed texts on a wide range of subjects related to their interests, such as an essay or report. Course DescriptionIn this module, we will be exploring, over the course of 12 weeks, modern day topics about German society, culture and politics. We will use the textbook Sicher! C1.1 (Kurs- und Arbeitsbuch) as a starting point. Students are encouraged to present topics of their own choice and discuss them with their peers. This can include excerpts from modern day literature to be prepared at home and discussed in class. There will be no formal assessment for this module.
