Enjoy a short walk to Llyn Idwal in the Ogwen Valley with incredible views of the scenic landscape all around you as well as rare plant life, extreme rock formations and stunning waterfalls. We will then travel to Beaumaris on the Isle of Anglesey – stopping on the way to view the stunning Menai Bridge built by Thomas Telford. Once in Beaumaris, there will be time for a relaxed stroll on the pier or pay a visit to Beaumaris Castle – a UNESCO World Heritage Site and part of Edward I’s Iron Ring (Not included – please see the castle booking information below). To finish the day, we will have an obligatory photo stop at the longest place name in Europe – Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. Can you say it!? To summarise – Mountains, waterfalls, lakes, sea, castles, bridges, culture… this trip has everything you need for an unforgettable day in Wales. Study Abroad Culture Calendar: Conwy & Llandudno (Sem 2 2024/25)DescriptionSaturday 26 April, 8.15am-6.30pm Experience a medieval fortress in North Wales at Conwy Castle with incredible 360-degree views from the top of the towers. Walk the ancient walls of the town for a wonderful view looking back at the castle. Enjoy lunch in the town of Conwy where you can visit Conwy Harbour and the smallest house in Great Britain. We will then spend the last part of the day at the Victorian seaside resort of Llandudno. Here you can walk the pier or enjoy the views from the Great Orme, or simply have an ice cream on the beach. This trip is a great experience in North Wales – not to be missed!
Study Abroad Culture Calendar: Lake District Day Trip (Sem 2 2024/25)DescriptionSaturday 8 March, 8.30am-6.30pm The Lake District is the UK’s Largest and most visited National Park. It is the largest area of land to be named as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy incredible scenic views of this beautiful landscape on a day trip to one of the prettiest areas in the Lake District – Grasmere and Derwentwater. One of the best ways to see the area is to go on a scenic walk! Join us as we enjoy a gentle walk around Grasmere Lake taking in the forest and river views along the way. After our walk, we will have some free time for lunch in Grasmere village where you can also visit Wordsworth’s grave and Daffodil Garden as well as the world-famous Gingerbread Shop. Following your visit to Grasmere we will travel to Derwentwater Lake to enjoy some time relaxing by the lake and seeing the famous view point at Friar’s Crag. ‘The loveliest spot man hath ever found’? Study Abroad Culture Calendar: City of Chester Tour (Sem 2 2024/25)DescriptionWednesday 12 February, 1pm-6pm. Chester is a former Roman city located just about 30 minutes from Liverpool. It was founded in 79 AD as a Roman fort, and was granted city status in 1541. The city today contains many beautiful examples of black-and-white buildings, and is steeped in medieval history. The city walls of Chester are some of the best-preserved in the country and have Grade I listed status. Please note, this trip does not include the cost of the train ticket (approx. £5.95), which will need to be purchased on the day.
