Course Description

The Centre for Sustainable Business has created the ultimate workshop to empower and grow the sustainability leaders of the future.

‘Shaping Sustainable Futures’ is a three-day thought-provoking programme designed to enhance your strategic approach to sustainability and collectively reimagine how organisations can shape a better future.

Through a series of interactive sessions, the use of contrasting future viewpoints will encourage  you to think holistically and systemically over longer time frames. The workshop enables participants to anticipate plausible futures to support an actionable path to shaping preferable futures.

Our team of specialist researchers and industry experts will share insights, evidence and challenge assumptions, reveal blindspots in attention, provoke debate and inspire action.

Our holistic approach to sustainability means our programme is open to people in organisations of all sizes and sectors. It will help you develop a future oriented perspective for organisation.

Led by Professor Jo Meehan, Director of the Centre for Sustainable Business, the ‘Shaping Sustainable Futures’ programme will integrate you into a community of like-minded individuals who share a strategic mindset, striving for a sustainable future for businesses and society.

Programme structure

The 'Shaping Sustainable Futures' workshop is divided into three day-long sessions.  

DAYS 1 & 2 (21st and 22nd Jan 2025)

The first two consecutive days focus on why it is important to start planning now to shape a sustainable future for your organisation.  Our experts will facilitate a series of thought-provoking sessions, from which we will create, explore and debate a series of plausible future scenarios.

DAY 3 (26th March 2025)

We reconvene to share everyone’s progress and experience in shaping a preferable future. What went well? What practical tips can you share? What is proving difficult to overcome?  This provides the opportunity and space to share, reflect and learn from your peers.

Location

Days 1 and 2 will take place the University of Liverpool Management School, Chatham Street, L69 7ZH and day 3 location to be confirmed in Liverpool City Centre.
