Course Description

This module aligns with the A1 level in Irish according to the CEFR and the TEG, covering units 1–12 of the TEG A1 syllabus. Designed for absolute beginners or those with minimal knowledge, no prior Irish experience is required. Over 30 weeks, students will develop basic skills in reading, writing, listening, speaking, and understanding fundamental Irish grammar. By the end, students will achieve A1 proficiency, enabling them to perform simple everyday tasks in Irish, understand and use familiar expressions and basic phrases, introduce themselves, and ask and answer questions about personal details. They will interact simply if spoken to slowly and clearly, with basic cultural understanding and intercultural skills relevant to their proficiency level.

Course Description

This module aligns with the B1 level in Irish per the CEFR and the European Certification of proficiency in the Irish Language (TEG). It suits students who have completed Stage 3 Lower Intermediate Irish or possess an A2- standard. Students will develop upper intermediate competence in reading, writing, listening, and speaking Irish, alongside an understanding of Irish grammar. By the end of this 30-week module, they will be able to explain opinions and plans, narrate stories, and describe reactions to books or films. They will engage in conversations on familiar topics, personal interests, or everyday life and comprehend the main points of radio or TV programs on current affairs or topics of personal or professional interest, given clear and slow delivery.
