Description

Charting the visual history of death, burial and commemoration in Liverpool over the course of five centuries this innovative course documents the surprising changes to private and public attitudes to death on Merseyside beginning with the Norris brasses at All Saints, Childwall, and on through the visitations of plague, cholera, churchyards and parishes, the idea of the garden cemetery, Nelson's Monument (Liverpool's first public sculpture) and much more besides. This course would appeal to anybody interested in Liverpool history, art, social history, literature and necro-geography.

Please note that the ‘last booking’ date is only a guide. We reserve the right to close bookings earlier if courses are over- or under-subscribed.
