Via interactive lectures, solidify your knowledge on the complexities of the "third brain" (the gastrointestinal system). During this one-day course we will discuss chronic enteropathies in cats and dogs, dive into the microbiome, gulp down dysphagia, poke the pancreas and settle the stomach with gastroprotectants. A complete transit of the gastrointestinal tract!

Course Description

·       Chronic enteropathy and small cell lymphoma in cats. Henry Cloete

·       Approach to acute and chronic diarrhoea in dogs. When is endoscopy useful? James Barton

·       The microbiome and faecal microbiota transplantation. What is value is transpoosion? PJ Noble and Luke Woodward

·       Pancreatitis and the importance of enteral feeding. Conor Moloney

·       When food won't go down. Oesophageal disease and aerodigestive disorder. Kaitlin Turnbull 

·       Gastroprotectants (when to use and when not to use). Erin O'Connell

 

Learning Outcomes:

  • Apply a logical and systematic approach to the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic diarrhoea in dogs, chronic enteropathies in cats, pancreatitis and oesophageal disorders.
  • Learn when and how to do a faecal microbiota transplant. 
  • Differentiate when it is and when it is not appropriate to use a protein-pump inhibitor.
