The Visual Language of Art (11am - 4pm)

Description

Please note that the ‘last booking’ date is only a guide. We reserve the right to close bookings earlier if courses are over- or under-subscribed. In order to avoid disappointment, please be sure to enrol as soon as possible. Registrations may not be processed until the following day if received after 3pm.

Over two days, we will explore a range of artists and styles, in two- and three-dimensional artworks, traditional and modern. We will discuss the elements of art and the basic ‘building blocks’ used to create works, along with more complex subjects such as cubism, semiotics and conceptual art. Through slide presentation and informal group discussion, participants will develop the skills to analyse and interpret artworks from a Sienese altarpiece to gallery installations, Victorian narratives to Tracey Emin’s bed.
