Course Description

 

Using a blend of taught material and case-based problem solving, the aetiology, diagnosis and management options for a wide range endocrine cases seen in first-opinion practice are presented in this one-day course. Lectures and case discussions are used to bring you up-to-date with the cutting edge of diabetes mellitus, diabetic ketoacidosis, acromegaly, hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, insulinoma, hyperadrenocorticism, hypoadrenocorticism and diabetes insipidus.

 

 

Learning Outcomes:

  • Apply a logical and systematic approach to the diagnosis and management of diabetes mellitus in dogs and cats, hyper- and hypoadrenocorticism in dogs, hyperthyroidism in the cat and hypothyroidism in the dog.

 

  • Develop an evidence-based and practical approach to the management of diabetic ketoacidosis

 

  • Review current concepts in the diagnosis of less-commonly encountered endocrinopathies, such as diabetes insipidus, insulinoma and acromegaly, and their management options.
