 Who Should Attend?

The course is aimed at all GDC registered Dental Care professionals.

 Course requirements:

To be accepted onto this course, candidates must

- be GDC Registered

- have a current BLS certificate

- have Professional Indemnity cover (that covers extended duties)

- identify a supervising clinician that will take responsibility for overseeing competency training in the workplace

 *Proof of the above will be a requirement to allow attendance*

Course Description

Aim: The aim of this course is to provide dental care professionals with the knowledge and practical skills required to confidently capture accurate intraoral scans using the iTero Lumina Scanner and integrate digital impressions into everyday clinical workflows, in line with their individual scope of practice.

A competency logbook will be provided for completion in practice, allowing delegates to evidence their skills through supervised clinical training.

 Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the event delegates will be able to:

·       Explain to a patient the procedure that is about to be conducted and obtain valid consent.

·       Identify restorative procedures that require dental impressions.

·       Explain the relevant Health and Safety considerations when handling digital scanning equipment and recording digital impressions.

·       Recognise the range of intraoral scanners currently available in clinical practice.

·       Describe the principles of operation of the iTero intraoral scanner system.

·       Capture a clinically usable intraoral scan and complete an accompanying digital laboratory prescription.

·       Assess whether a digital impression is fit for its intended clinical purpose.

·       Undertake appropriate infection prevention and control procedures for intraoral scanning.

 *This programme qualifies for 6 hours of verifiable CPD*
