This practical one-day workshop will cover essential foal skills for clinicians working in ambulatory practice. The morning starts with lectures and the rest of the day is a mix of hands-on small group practical skills sessions and case-based discussions.

Course Description

 

Essential skills for vets in ambulatory practice seeing foal cases will be covered. The morning starts with short lectures. After the coffee break we move onto the hands-on sessions and case based discussions will include over-the-wire catheter placement, CPR, foal squeeze- when and how and management flexural deformities in the field.

 Learning Outcomes

  • Develop the knowledge, skills and techniques to logically diagnose, manage and treat common problems of foals in ambulatory practice
  • Develop the knowledge and skills to apply sustaninable parasite control in youngstock in practice  
  • Develop the ability to identify and manage congenital limb deformities

This workshop is suitable for ambulatory vets wishing to develop practical skills and techniques used in the management of foal cases as well as those working towards the RCVS CertAVP Equine Stud Medicine and B-EP.3, C-VA.3, C-E.19, C-E.11, C-E.10, C-E.9 or C-E.17 Module.
