Stephanie King: Consultant in Restorative Dentistry, Liverpool Dental Hospital.

Who Should Attend?

The course is aimed at qualified General Dental Practitioners (GDP’S). It meets the new GDC requirements for enhanced CPD.

Course Description

Aim: An interactive day of seminars/lectures and case-based discussions, discussing the principles of basic occlusion and its relevance to everyday restorative dentistry.

Participants will have an improved knowledge of occlusal terminology and be more confident in assessing and recording occlusion.

*Delegates will be given the opportunity to take facebow transfers of each other* 

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the event delegates will be able to:

—  Discuss the relevance of the “ideal occlusion” in restorative dentistry.

—  Identify methods of recording the occlusion.

—  Describe when it may be appropriate to conform or reorganise an existing occlusal scheme, even at an increased occluding vertical dimension.

—  Explain articulator selection and how to record a facebow transfer.

—  Demonstrate how articulator settings can be set to aid the clinician and optimise clinical efficiency

—  Discuss a number of clinical scenarios where an appreciation of the occlusion helped to ensure a successful outcome when providing fixed and removable prosthodontics.
