Crime fiction is an enduring genre, and women writers have created many of the most popular and intriguing sleuths and stories.  In this course we shall sample the first novels of a range of contemporary detective series, exploring Paris, Venice, Northumberland, Lafferton, and Cambridge, in the company of Commissaire Jean – Baptiste Adamsberg, Commissario Guido Brunetti, Detective Inspector Vera Stanhope and private detective Jackson Brodie.  We shall also read Claudia Piňeiro’s Buenos Aires set mystery, where a mother searches for answers to her daughter's death.
