PSYC805 Dissertation Module (ONLINE ONLY)

This is a psychological research study conducted by the student under the supervision of a member of staff.

This module will be taught by Professor Jon Cole.

Places Available: In order to proceed with the Dissertation, students must have undertaken the pre-requisite module ILT701 in advance. Spaces will only be offered to students who have completed the pre-requisite module.

Course Description

DISSERATION MODULE PSYC805 INFORMATION

This is a psychological research study conducted by the student under the supervision of a member of staff. The student is responsible for designing, running, analysing, and writing up this research study.

There will be a minimum of 8 hours of supervisory meetings to assist the student in achieving this. In addition, there will be; (i) an initial meeting to intoduce the module and the research interests of the staff (3 hours), (ii) a formative assessment based on a short written report (1500 words) of the research plan and ethical approval at the end of semester 1 to monitor progress, and (iii) a poster presentation (3 hours) of progress at the end of semester 2.

  •  To develop the ability to design, run, analyse, and write up an original psychological research study. 
  •  To develop the ability to present a research study to a professional audience
  • To develop an understanding of research ethics
