This popular one-day workshop is back! Essential practical skills for vets working with emergency cases are presented during a morning of theory followed by an afternoon of cadaver-based wet-lab training.

Course Description

 

Essential practical skills for vets working with emergency cases are presented during a morning of theory followed by an afternoon of cadaver-based wet-lab training. Lectures cover the theory behind, and indications for:

• Cardiopulmonary cerebral resuscitation,
• Central vascular access and intraosseous techniques,
• Analgesia for critical cases,
• Ventilation,
• Tracheotomy, tracheostomy, thoracocentesis and chest drain placement.

These skills are then put into practice during the wet-lab session in the afternoon.

 

Learning Outcomes

• Develop the knowledge and skills required to implement practice-appropriate protocols for cardiopulmonary cerebral resuscitation (CPCR), analgesia for critical cases and ventilation
• Advance knowledge of the indications for, and management of cases requiring chest drain placement, thoracocentesis, tracheotomy, intraosseous cannulation and placement of central venous catheters
• Demonstrate the surgical skills and techniques required for chest drain placement, thoracocentesis, tracheotomy, intraosseous cannulation and placement of central venous catheters.
