Course Description

With an estimated 24 million gardens in the UK, the way they are cared for can make a big difference to the natural world. This short course will cover how to create beautiful spaces for people and wildlife to enjoy together, regardless of the size of your garden.

  • Designing for people and wildlife
  • Introduction to garden ecology
  • Types of wildlife & habitats
  • Nesting boxes and feeding stations
  • Wildlife friendly garden maintenance

The course is taught through lectures, demonstrations, and a range of practical activities in the gardens. You will need suitable outdoor clothes the time of year i.e  waterproofs and sturdy boots, in addition to your prefered method of taking notes.

Dates & times

The course starts on Thursday 8 June. 6 weekly sessions 9.30-12noon (no teaching Thursday 29 June).

Who is it suitable for?

18+. There are no formal entry requirements; all you need is an interest in plants and wildlife. No previous experience needed.

What does it cost?

£60 (£50 Members of Ness Gardens).
