Introduction to French Language and Culture (Wednesday 6-8pm)DescriptionThis 4-week course will provide learners with a relaxed, friendly environment in which they can converse freely in the French language. In the course of the 4 weeks, learners will take part in paired and group discussions on topics related to their everyday life. Material for weekly preparation and supplementary learning will be made available online on the university's virtual learning platform (CANVAS). At the end of this module, learners will be able to speak confidently about themselves and others as well as their own everyday life, ask questions in both formal and informal settings, justify likes and dislikes, and gain some knowledge of French culture. Introduction to French Language and Culture (Thursday 1-3pm)DescriptionIntroduction to Language and Culture is a short course for complete beginners or those with very little knowledge of the language. The overall aim is to familiarise yourself with the written and spoken language as well as to learn to navigate most common everyday situations and to interact, very basically, in social situations. Students will have a chance to learn about cultural issues and current affairs in the target language communities. By the end of this module students will be able to read and understand very basic conversations about familiar, everyday topics and will have a general understanding of most basic social interaction rules and norms in the communities of the target language. Classes are taught by lecturers from the University of Liverpool, and you will be registered as a student of the University.
