An introduction to investor psychology: how financial decisions are reached (Saturday 10am-1pm)

Description

Although financial decisions are supposed to involve rational powers, evidence from history and everyday reality argues that point. This course begins by demonstrating what “rationality” means and how real-life/historical incidents refute it. It then goes on to discuss the pitfalls of the human brain when it receives and processes information through the presentation of a series of biases and heuristics. Experiments and real-life cases will help showcase how rationality is only one possible state of mind – and that, in most cases, it takes a back seat to behavioural forces beyond our awareness/control.
