Course Description

In this first of two linked Saturday courses, we shall trace the story of the city now known as Istanbul, from its beginnings as the Greek city of Byzantium to its becoming Constantinople, capital of the Byzantine Empire. The day's sessions will take you through some of the earliest accounts of Byzantium and will focus on its remarkable architecture and its evolution into Constantinople.

No prior experience required.
