Course Description

In this workshop we will cover the two most common reasons for upper airway obstruction in the dog:

  • Brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome
  • Laryngeal paralysis.

The course will include a practical session on how to perform a permanent tracheostomy and a left arytenoid lateralisation (“laryngeal tieback”) procedure.

You will have seen these cases in first opinion practice. This workshop is suitable for vets in first opinion practice wishing to improve their knowledge of the surgery involved or indeed take the first steps towards embarking on obtaining the skill set to perform such surgeries themselves and would be of particular interest to those working towards an RCVS CertAVP in Medicine or Surgery.
