Course Description

 

Day 1 will include detailed dental anatomy, how to perform a detailed yet efficient oral examination, abnormalities of the incisors and cheek teeth, instrumentation, routine floating and treatment of periodontal disease, and dental examination in the pre-purchase examination. Practical sessions will utilise cadaver material to demonstrate dental and sinus anatomy, nerve blocks and tooth extraction and safe use of motorised dental equipment. Delegates will also have “hands on” experience of using hand and motorised dental equipment on clinical patients.

Delegates should bring their own appropriate light source where available and protective clothing and all other equipment will be provided. Delegates are also encouraged to submit their own cases in advance for discussion in a new “blended learning” approach to this course (further details to follow).

 

This workshop is suitable for all delegates working in equine practice, irrespective of experience, and for those studying to achieve an RCVS CertAVP in equine dentistry or surgery. There will also be an opportunity to discuss preparation for the synoptic examination with candidates. Numbers are limited on this highly practical course so booking early is advised.
