Overview

The number of clinical trials being conducted has increased, and the need for greater efficiency in design, conduct, analysis and reporting has been recognised in both the public and industry sector.
The programme will include:
Trial design, trial conduct, recruitment of trial participants, public and patient involvement, analysis and reporting, health economics.

 

Faculty includes experts in:

Clinical trials: Professor Paula Williamson, Dr Susanna Dodd

Statistics: Dr Richard Emsley, Dr Thomas Jaki, Dr Chris Sutton

Qualitative and recruitment research: Professor Peter Bower, Professor Bridget Young

Health economics: Professor Dyfrig Hughes

 

Prerequisites

Understanding of basic statistical concepts is assumed.

 

Teaching methods

All sessions will be interactive, with practical sessions, experiential learning activities and small group work. We ask participants to submit a short summary of their trial/interests in advance of the course, and ask faculty to refer to these wherever possible. An internationally recognised leading trialist will share their own experience and views about how to be a good Chief Investigator. Course tutors will be available during the week for individual discussion of specific projects.

This course is aimed at health and research professionals, particularly those aiming to become Chief Investigators.
