Assessment and Treatment Planning for service users with memory impairment: a course for occuptional therapists

Course for : occupational therapists working in intermediate care or other relevant setting

Learning outcomes for this workshop:

  • Describe some current hypotheses about the structure of human memory and underlying brain systems
  • Discuss the ways in which impairments in brain systemes may affect occupational performance
  • Describe some standardised assessments of memory for service users who have dementia
  • Outline ways in which findings from assessment can inform treatment planning for service users with dementia

Dr Johnathon O'Brien and Julie Hanna are members of the Occupational Therapy Directorate academic teaching team.  Jonathon's clinical and research interests focus on neuropsychology and neurosciences with clinical experience in stroke.  Julie's clinical experience and research interests focus on mental health, health promotion, wellbeing and arts and health.
