Course Description

Mr Rahat Ali, Consultant in Restorative Dentistry, Liverpool Dental Hospital

Mr Ahmed Al-Khayatt, Consultant in Restorative Dentistry, Central Manchester and Bradford Teaching Hospitals.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the event delegates will be able to:

  • Discuss the principles of extra-coronal tooth preparation including the importance of retention and resistance form
  • Explain the preparations required for a metal ceramic crown, full gold crown, dentine bonded crown, labial ceramic veneer, Emax Crown and an adhesive gold onlay.
  • Use putty matrices as an aid to improving their extra-coronal tooth preparations.
  • Apply the different design features discussed to their tooth preparations, including metal ceramic crowns, full gold crowns, dentine bonded crowns, labial ceramic veneers, adhesive gold onlays and Emax restorations.
  • Appreciate the importance of an accurate master impression/locating impression/jaw registration when treatment planning and providing fixed prosthodontics.
