Description

Every fact is really an idea, someone once claimed; histories are disguised arguments. To test such possibilities we shall be reading, among other works, Shakespeare's Richard III, Dryden's Absalom and Achitophel (Part 1), Horace Walpole's The Castle of Otranto, Scott's Rob Roy, Dickens's Barnaby Rudge, Lampedusa's The Leopard, and works by Pushkin, Stevenson, and Kipling, and others.
