Description

James Ellroy's 'L.A. Confidential' (1990) was a seminal novel in the crime fiction genre. Not only did Ellroy create an incendiary prose style but the style and plotting of the novel challenged preconceptions of 1950s America as a more placid, socially conservative society. This seminar will take a close, in-depth look at the novel and will make comparisons with the Oscar winning film adaptation that followed it.
