Although most primary medieval sources highlight male activity, closer analysis and other texts, including imagery, reveal a more balanced picture. Using these sources, we will identify the achievements of many prominent medieval women and themes such as motherhood, marriage, mysticism, misogyny, queenship, virginity and piety.
